San Antonio Sports

Since 1984, San Antonio Sports has put its city on the global stage, growing out of the San Antonio Amateur Sports Foundation and later Team SA before adopting its current name in 2009 for its 25th anniversary. As San Antonio’s independent sports commission, the nonprofit’s mission is to transform the community through the power of sport, recognizing the link between healthy bodies and healthy minds. San Antonio Sports has hosted premier events — from NCAA Championships to the San Antonio Marathon — that have delivered more than $1.5 billion for the local economy, while also running youth and community programs including i play! afterschool and ACTIVATE that expand access to sports, promote healthy living, and teach kids lifelong values. Celebrating 40 years in 2024, the organization continues to invite the community to get involved as participants, volunteers, and donors in its work to inspire children and families toward active, healthy lives.
