RallyCap Sports

The roots of RallyCap Sports trace back to 1990, when founder Paul Hooker, coaching a Little League Baseball team, asked a little girl in a wheelchair how she was doing; frustrated at watching from the sidelines while her brother played, she replied simply, “this stinks.” That two-word answer sparked Hooker and his wife Margo to start a grassroots softball league near their hometown in Central New Jersey called Challenged Youth Sports, which grew over 25 years from a single-sport season into a year-round organization offering nearly a dozen sports. In 2014, as the organization approached its 25th anniversary, it reinvented itself as RallyCap Sports with a new national mission, launching its first university chapter at Bowling Green State University. RallyCap’s philosophy holds that sports are a powerful avenue toward changing lives, with a collaborative atmosphere, active play, leadership, and fun spirit as core values naturally integrated into a sports environment. The organization has since grown to 19+ chapters across eight states, providing recreational sports like soccer, basketball, golf, and flag football to hundreds of children and young adults with special needs and their families.
