Kings County Tennis League

KCTL got its start in 2010 when founder Michael McCasland was playing at a neglected tennis court near Marcy Houses in Brooklyn; conversations with kids and families passing by quickly turned into summer lessons at that same court. Now celebrating 15 years of bringing tennis and community to Brooklyn neighborhoods, KCTL has evolved into a dynamic 501(c)(3) nonprofit that repurposes existing play spaces within public housing communities to provide free tennis instruction, life skills development, and community-building opportunities for residents and local youth. The organization’s mission is to help Brooklyn youth build the skills to succeed, with a vision of a world where every young person in Brooklyn holds the power to grow through tennis. KCTL has expanded to six public housing developments, ten children’s and community centers, and three tennis partner locations in Brooklyn, offering pathway programming to nearly 1,000 young people ages 3-18 each year.
